Morning Encouragement for 8/2/2022

Good Morning and Happy August

Jesus came as a human, with no halo, no scepter, no crown, and no fan fair for the King. He was hated, questioned, and ridiculed. The reason I feel the people were in such an uproar over Jesus was that they looked for him to establish an earthly kingdom with positions for the spiritual leaders because that is what they were led to believe; yet what they got, in the end, was a cross, a murdered innocent man, and eventually the end of an earthly priesthood. When you read the accounts in the OT, you may wonder “why on earth didn’t they see Jesus for the King he was? After all I see that he was the prophesied king and I am not an OT scholar nor am an Israelite”. The answer is, we are reading a completed account that is, OT and NT together as one piece. When we look back on history, it is very easy to judge the people because we were not there. In the future, people in the same will judge us too because they too will see a completed picture and hopefully see the error of our ways and hopefully not repeat them. The last thing I want to leave with you in this segment is the word “grace” as it applies to the cross and death of an innocent man. That fateful day at Calvary. You see, when Jesus was nailed to the cross there were more people jeering him and than crying for him. Those that jeered joined the Priests in laughing at him “some High Priest” “Physician heal thyself”. When the clouds gathered and the sky turned dark as night, all of the laughing and jeering came to sudden halt and in the wake of Jesus’ immortal words “It is finished” the people ran for cover knowing that their goose was cooked. Some would come to accept Jesus as the Messiah but it would be probably years later and what they say to him “sorry old boy”? No, because there would be no words that could possibly make things right and it was for this reason the phrase was uttered “My grace is sufficient for all of your needs, my strength is made perfect in weakness” to Paul. Today many of you are in the position of Paul having run as far from the Kingdom of G-d as you possibly can; maybe, you have spit in his face, laughed at every Christian, and denied that Jesus was who he said I was. I invite you back to the altar of the living G-d that He May touch you a new today.

Famous Quote: Grace is free sovereign favor to the ill-deserving.” – Benjamin B. Warfield

Father,

Thank you for grace which enables us to connect to people, soothes the ruffled edges, and grants us strength to reach out when all we’ve done is “failed”. We have judged people harshly and making amends is most difficult because it means admitting we were wrong. Help me today to forgive people who have offended me and let go because I know that, grace is not earned, it is given free of charge and without one intention of holding the sins against them when change our minds. Help me to be like Peter and Paul who although having been slammed, mistreated, had rocks thrown at them, and been excluded from the community yet never once said “I damn you and I’ll never forgive you”. Please forgive me every time I have judged people harshly for having done nothing wrong to me. I pray for my family, my city, my state, and nation. I pray for our Police, Military, EMTS, and Medical staff. Please watch over our pastoral staff as well. Thank you for healing our land Lord and restoring the resources we so desperately need. Thank you for all that you do in and through us.

Morning Encouragement for 7/31/2022

Good Morning!

In this world of ours there are many ideologies which seem to tear at the fabric of life, churches, nations, and families across all cultures. The thing is, I believe every people group holds a piece of the puzzle about who G-d is and how this world really operates. The reason I believe this puzzle has never been put together to this date is that there are people in this world who do not want peace because it cuts into their profits. If peace prevailed on earth, there would be no need for weapons of war. When victory is decided only by war, ultimatums are issued that hurts the wrong people. Remember, the Devil knows all too well that when people start to compare notes, he’s through. One of the hardest things for me is, “seeing from other points of view”. When all I can see is “how I am right and others are wrong”, I do little more than isolate myself. Consider how we approach the Bible, when someone disagrees with us we throw out popular pieces of scripture, mostly out of context, because they align with our system of beliefs. When we allow ourselves the luxury of living under the false notion that we are right, we setup an “us versus them” war. Consider the argument over abortion – each side having their good and bad points. At a rally, it was hard if not impossible to decipher which side was which because they were both hurling obscenities and their arguments were lost. In our churches it is the same problem on various issues. When people do not stop and talk with the opposite side with the intention of listening to their argument and checking the facts, cliques are formed and a church is divided; a more serious side of this is that when people in the clique find out that what they had been led to believe was a lie, they leave the church and abandon Christianity. Look at what happens when children go to college and are unprepared for the deluge of worldly beliefs. My encouragement is that you learn about the opposite beliefs with the intention of equipping ourselves and families for the battle of daily life. When our children leave the home for college they will be better equipped and able to stand on their two feet against worldly beliefs and just maybe they will be able to connect the dots?

Famous Quote: It takes two to speak the truth — one to speak and another to hear. Henry David Thoreau.

Father,

Help us as a whole to reach across the people groups in the sprit of humility. We know war as a solution has never worked. We have witnessed a continual onslaught of destruction of property, people groups, and precious resources all in the name of “ideologies”. I know all too well that there are people who thrive from war because it lines their pockets. Help me today to reach lives for Jesus Christ in the spirit of humility. I pray for my family that you will watch over them wherever they may travel. I pray for our military forces in the US and across the world that you will keep them safe. I pray over our congress, senate, and executive house that you will continue to shake them to their core so that their every decision will weigh heavily on their heart. I pray for our EMTs and Medical staff that you help them on their job to face the worst that mankind can throw their way without surrendering to enemy of our soul. Thank you for healing our land Lord!

Morning Encouragement for 7/30/2022

Good Morning!

When I first enlisted in the US Navy many years ago, I was a scared 18 year old who was leaving home for the first time in his life. Our only mode of communication at the time was to “write letters”. I wrote many times to my dad expressing my fears because of something the Drill instructor had promised if we didn’t shape up. While I was writing, my thought was that my dad would become enraged and do something about my situation instead, he laughed remembering his time in boot camp. Now years later, I too laugh at the minor fears and setbacks I had and how proud I was to graduate and go onto serve for 20 years. My point is that when we are going through storms big or small, it seems like we’ll never see the sun again and the dark skies do nothing to lighten our mood. The thing is, when we are in the midst of storms and trials we think, “G-d forgotten about me” so I will tell him all about my situation hoping that he will do something about it. When the rain finishes, the skies turn blue but maybe days before the waters that remain from the storms abate. When the waters are gone, and the ship that G-d has kept us safe on settles down to earth. Then we come out from that ship shaken but safe and we proclaim the Lord’s faithfulness and these storms become part of our testimony. My dear brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus I encourage you that in no matter what storm you are to never let the storm become bigger than the G-d we serve. Know this and commit it to memory: storms come to challenge our words and promises. Storms come to humble us and show us who is in charge. No one likes storms big or small yet, they have a purpose. Storm come to grow us, mature us, and strengthen us for the bigger storms to come.

Readings: Psalm 30, Matthew 11:25-30, Jeremiah 29, Genesis 8, Ecclesiastes 12:1-7

Famous Quote: It always seems impossible until it’s done.” Nelson Mandela

Father,

We are in the midst of great storms today that started years ago. For now, it seems like the storms will never end and life is one huge black cloud yet, I know a day is coming when those storms will abate. I pray that my brothers and sisters in Christ never lose hold of your hand no matter how much tragedy they may see. Watch over and keep each and every one of us today. I pray for our military forces that are serving across the seas, our Police forces who are grappling with many issues some of which are seen and others which are not. I pray for our EMTs and Medical staff that you will be with them as they face multiple tragedies each day. I pray for our politicians who are making decisions that impact our nation shake them to their core Lord and help them to see the outcome of their choices. I pray for my city of Stacy, state of Minnesota, and USA. Help me to reach people today through these writings.

Morning Encouragement for 7/28/2022

Good Morning,

I have heard a lot of people, and that includes me, complain because of the lack of rain. When it did rain, people said “It’s not enough rain”. But then, a thought crossed my mind “Whether a little bit or lot, the Lord can use both for His needs” and we need to be thankful for even the little amounts. Consider the few fish and a couple loaves of bread that the disciples felt would not be enough to feed the multitudes. When Jesus took the bread and fish, broke them, and gave thanks for them the little fed a multitude. While it would be very easy to say, “But I am not Jesus” the thing is, Jesus was a man of great faith in his Father and that, I believe, is the key factor. For months now, I have prayed daily that the Lord would heal our land. The arid conditions the nation and the world has been treated to for the past few years should have dampened my spirits but it hasn’t. You see, as the scripture states, having faith in the Lord’s healing is not because I saw a rain cloud but that I Prayed for the Lord to heal our land even before I saw a cloud. When the rain fell, I rejoiced in the Lord and thanked Him profusely. The doomsday prophets declare “Jesus” coming and the world to be destroyed. Remember this, though, you live in this land, do you want it healed for another generation or don’t you? Today I challenge all of my readers both near and far to pray that the Lord would your land wherever you are, when the little falls “Rejoice”, when the great amount falls, “rejoice”.

Father,

To you belongs all of the power and praise. You give us the option “live a dismal life or reach out in prayer with faith believing. I know that you are able to make the little we possess to meet our needs. I asked for you to heal our land I believe you in the process of it; the thing is, I also know that prayer is not always in keeping with what we ask for but always in keeping with our needs. I pray for our land Lord that you will continue to heal this land and restore us. I pray for our EMTs, Police, politicians, and Medical staff that you will guide them and keep them. I pray for my nation, the city where I live, and my state.

Morning Encouragement for 7/26/2022

Good Morning,

When I was in Boy Scouts about 100 years ago, the scout master had us do an exercise in which he laid out a six’ piece of string. We had to look down on the string from a pair of binoculars turned upside down. This made walking the length of string difficult because our feet looked to be extremely long and string extremely small. The best we could do without falling was 3’; when we had completed this exercise, we had to walk the length of string looking down the opposite end. In there place, binoculars are useful for seeing things at a distance however, when they are used to focus in on us our vision of what is before us is distorted. Sin is like the binoculars because it gets us to focus on our needs rather than the needs of the world. When we first dabble with sin, it is like looking through the wrong end of the binoculars because, it makes it seem like it is so small and can be tamed easily. When the binoculars are turned around correctly, we see what sin has done to us and our families. No one likes to see ourselves in the light of truth because we are faced with a choice – change or be destroyed in the long run. The Devil will never tell us what lies in the future because he knows all too well what the outcome will be because he has been around since the dawn of time and his tricks have not changed.

Readings: 1 Peter 5:1-10, Deuteronomy 30, Habakkuk 2, Psalms 34, Proverbs 14, Matthew 23:37-39.

Famous Quote: “It is a remarkable fact, while those who are enlightened by the Holy Spirit and are actually overcoming their sins see more and more of the evil in their hearts and lives, those who are slaves of sin see less and less evil, and often deny they are sinners at all.” [19th century Theologian Augustas H. Strong, System Theology, 576].

Father,

When you hold the mirror of your word up to our face, we see what has become of us because of sin. The image we see is not complimentary and it brings us to tears. The tears we shed lead us to repentance. Where we go from your son’s cross will greatly depend on how far we go in your kingdom. You desire that all men come to repentance but, that is not always reality in the world where I live so help me today to be the light that leads people to you. I pray for my nation Lord that you will continue to heal this land, we will not be the people we were before sin but what you do with brokenness is amazing. I pray for our military, police, EMTs, and medical staff that they would return home safely at the end of their shift. I pray for my family that you will watch over and keep them safe where ever they may be or where their pathways may take them. I pray especially for my readers that you will bless them no matter where they maybe in life.

Morning Encouragement for 7/24/2022

Good morning,

in life there are many voices that speak from the heart there are voices of hate/bigotry/fear/doubt/depression, words of feigned encouragement, and then there is the “still small voice of the Lord”. The first voice tells us “because of fear we need to run for our lives or fight against a brother”; this is the voice of the Devil through his minions. The second voice is the human response to tragedy, sort of like Job’s three unofficial counselors, which tells us “G-d doesn’t give us any more than we can handle” and “I’ll pray for you”; the problem is we do not pray for that person we use their situation as a fodder for conversation. The third voice, and the most important, speaks from our heart “Be still and know that I Am G-d” it speaks to our situations “Peace be still” and to the obstacles facing us “move out of the way”. You see the situations, obstacles, and hecklers know the voice of G-d and run in fear of it because they know all too well how short period they have to affect damage until the Lord says “it’s my turn”. The passage in Psalms 46:10 means “Quiet your fears and be firmly convinced in your spirit that IAM G-d and can address your concerns, fears, and doubts like a skilled surgeon. In our moments of fear/doubt/depression, “He is the G-d who keeps us through the watches of the day and night”, to our hurts and pains, “He is the G-d who heals and restores us”, and to the voice of pessimism He is the “voice that stills to the storms”. Stay in His word and be greatly encouraged.

Father,

We are struggling here on earth because of the changes in our environment, we have wars and rumors of wars, and troubles on every shore. While there are many counselors on earth, the one voice we need the most is to hear from you. When Solomon prayed over the temple he wanted it to be the one place where your Spirit reigned, healed, and restored. Lord as I turn to your temple, I pray for my nation that we will once again have peace on earth and that the anger of the enemy be removed from our land. Please forgive our sins Lord and heal this land and her peoples. I encourage my readers to pray for their land that you will heal it and restore it. May your good Spirit be with us today. I pray for our military, police, EMTs, and medical staff that you will watch over them and bring them home safely. Thank you for the healing storms last night and the beautiful weather today.

Morning Encouragement for 7/23/2022

There was once an eagle chick that fell from the nest among a group of chickens. One day the little chick saw huge bird in the sky and he asked “what type of bird is that”? A fellow chicken said, “man that’s an eagle” to which the eagle chick said, “man I would love to be up there in the sky”. He was told, “well you’re a chicken and you can’t soar in the heavens it’s impossible”. So the eagle chick stayed among the chickens pecking for food on the ground and never soared in the skies like the other eagles.The word “can’t” which is contractual for cannot means, “a way has not been found yet” or “doesn’t align with my goals”. The problem is “can’t” is all too often used as a stated fact and it is expected that we believe it and not challenge it. This kind of living compels us to live less than the privilege we have in Christ Jesus. When it comes to our Christian walk, it is easy and far more convenient to accept common held beliefs than to study the word for ourselves. In Jesus’ time the Sanhedrin believed that they cornered the market on righteousness. After Jesus’ death and resurrection, the baton was passed to the disciples to finish the race. Imagine if they had caved into the pressure from the Sanhedrin to comply and basically say, “sorry Jesus but I can’t defy the council”; if they had, Jesus life, death, and resurrection would be a footnote in history instead of continuing story.

Morning Encouragement for 7/20/2022

Good Morning,

Whether we know it or not, the demons speak in our ears about  “what we need”, “what irritates us”,  “justification for negative actions”, and many other such negative thoughts. The reason they do this is to get our eyes off of the Lord and what He is saying to us today. These thoughts come from what we witness daily and how someone’s actions affect us. Of course, this all sounds like Mike’s lost his marbles and you would not be wrong in thinking that but bear with me a moment. When you consider all of the turmoil in our world today everything from climate change to the mass shootings, one can not help but wonder who is behind all of this. The individual behind this is our common enemy the Devil. The Devil is not omnipresent nor “omnipotent” he is a created being who deserves great respect. The Devil has many angels or “demons” that are sent to confound us with nonsense and when that doesn’t stop us, more trouble comes into play. That said, the demons, just like the Devil, are not responsible for our actions nor the thoughts that litter our minds, we are. If we want to overcome the barrage, we need to turn our fears, doubts, anger, dislikes, etc. into avenues of prayer.

Readings: Romans 12, John 16:25-33, Proverbs 10:19-25, Psalms 37:7-9.

Famous Quote: Walking with God down the avenue of prayer we acquire something of His likeness, and unconsciously we become witnesses to others of His beauty and His grace.— Edward McKendree Bounds.

Father,

My mind gets so convoluted with the fears, angst, dislikes, and anger with the direction life is being taken in our world. The Devil’s helpers come that I may have trouble increasingly and unceasingly but your son came that I might have life and that more abundantly. You are not an interlude or a moment of silence amidst the affairs of the world, you are a completely different pathway that leads us up out of trouble. Please help me today to turn whatever thoughts come against me into avenues of prayer that bring peace to my life. I pray for the military, law enforcement, and EMT communities that you will be with every one of them and bring them safely home. I pray over our politicians that you will continue to shake them to their core with the message of the Ephod so that they fully understand who they serve. I pray for the city of Stacy, the state of Minnesota, and the USA may your Spirit fall fresh upon us. I pray for the truckers who carry supplies to our communities. I thank you for healing our land by rain that refreshes the land and the storms that shake the heart of mankind. I pray for those who need a special touch from you today. Finally, I pray that my words will always be an encouragement to all who read these words in Jesus’ name I pray. May your peace be upon my family, city, state, nation, and world. Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O LORD, my rock and my redeemer (Psalms 19:14).

Morning Encouragement for 7/18/2022

Good Morning,

Of all the things we humans deal with, I feel the one most painful is “regret”. Regret looks back on our life to the things we did not do, the words we did not say, and/or the wounds we caused but now cannot heal. When my mother was alive, we argued over senseless matters like “religion” something we both had stark differences about. The day before she died my family and I went out for a get together. When we got ready to leave I noticed something in her eyes that told me “her time is limited” but I ignored it thinking there would always be another “tomorrow”. I got word the next day that she died a painful and angry death and what G-d would have to say to her might well have made all of the difference in the world but those words were left unsaid. You see “regret is mean taskmaster” because he/she pokes at our wounds through dreams, reminders of what we should have said, and laughs at our pains. I think of the night Jesus was arrested and while they should have stayed awake, the men became tired after a very long day. Yet after his arrest, Peter tried to be brave and strike the sword only to be reproved. After Jesus was impaled and died on the cross, the words just would not come and Peter would spend a long few days grappling with his cowardice and felt pretty useless. You see, we either make use of the time we are given or we allow the window of time to close irrevocably. Stay encouraged.

Readings: Matthew 26:36-55, Ecclesiastes 3:1-8, Psalms 4, Jeremiah 12:5-14, Romans 12:6-21.

Famous Quote: “I’d rather regret the things I’ve done then the things I haven’t done” – Lucille Ball.

Father,

Regret is an enemy that increases its pressure until we lose control. We each have an appointment with the grave and nothing is going to stop it not even taking the best care for our life. Then we throw in the complexity of missed opportunities, enemies we have made that we have not forgiven, and family members who stop coming because someone offended them. While I am p;ownerless to change others, I have full control over my life and can forgive, resolve, and make inroads only while I am alive. Help me to make use of the time you have given me today. I pray for our EMTs, Police, Fire, medical staff, military, and clergy. I pray for peace on my nation and that we can begin to heal the wounds caused by our foolishness. I pray for our politicians and elected officials that they would be shaken to their core in all that they do. I pray for my family that you will watch over them today and everyday.

Morning Encouragement for 7/17/2022

Good Morning,

The days we are living in are not pleasant. The enemy has been unleashed to create a war with the G-d of Heaven. While these times are treacherous, they are also the “Year of the Lord’s favor”. It is the time when we are released from the bondages we have been under. The problem is many return to another bondage not realizing the opportunity they possess. The promise of “an eternal kingdom” was not a feigned promise, it was a true one that hinged on the actions of his sons. In God’s eyes David was a man that brought great joy because of David’s love for him. Israel could have been saved had there been more kings like David, Hezekiah, and Josiah but it was not to be. Today we are presented with the same problem and the same choice “walk free” or “stay in bondage”. In the time before, during, and after the exile there were many people among the Israelites whose hearts were moved by the Lord. In the same way, there are many millions of people whose hearts are also moved by the Lord. I encourage you to allow the Lord to move freely in your life today despite the struggles of the world.

Famous Quote: I’ve read the last page of the bible. It’s all going to turn out alright.” – Billy Graham

Father,

You lay before us the doorway that leads up ward and the one that leads down. The choices we make in our life time build the bridge to either one but to both. Help me today to gird my heart to see life through your eyes from your vantage point despite the direction of the world. Without you, I am powerless and hold onto a name by which i have no authority to use. The Devil says “follow me and I will give you anything you ask” and then promptly gives the consequences without the riches. I chose to follow you Lord today please help me to honor you in all that I do. I pray for our EMTs, Police, Fire, politicians, and military communities. Please watch over the military spouses who remain at home not knowing if their spouse will return or in what condition they return. Morning Encouragement for 7/16/2022

Good morning,

I want to tell you a story this morning. There was once two villages that were connected by a road. For years the two villages shared everything and were very happy. Swap meets and “Farmers’ Markets” were set up on the road through out the year. The problem was in mountains there was a man who was unfriendly and could not stand the joy the two communities had because, it meant he would have no control. So, he rolled a huge boulder onto the road which made the commute impassable. To make matters worse, he visited the two communities with regularity stirring up trouble. Soon the two villages were at odds with one another and they started pointing fingers and finding fault. Eventually it came down to an “us against them”. Then one day a little child caught onto the man’s mayhem. The child could not move the boulder so he/she found another way to reach the other community. Soon all of the children in the two villages were talking to one another. It was only then that the elders stopped the fighting and compared notes. It was decided that neither community had put the boulder in the way and began to chisel away at the boulder until it disintegrated. Communication once again established between the two communities and they lived happily ever after.

Part of the whole problem we have in our world today is that we do not know how to communicate. The wars and scrimmages we have in our world attest to our inability to talk through the difficulties. The Devil is not the cause of our problems, he only sets the stage. What we do with the stage or how we react to it will determine the outcome. Remember this, the blood that was shed over 2000 years ago was not just for one region but for the whole world. When we forgive other people and talk with those we disagree with, the boulders that were between us get chiseled away. No one the world over holds all of the information and is the epitome of “the right way to live”.

Readings: 2 Corinthians 12:6-7, Ecclesiastes 3:9-14, Matthew 5, Micah 6:6-8, John 8:31-32

Famous Quote:

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
and where there is sadness, joy. O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen.—St. Francis of Assisi

Father,

You put eternity in our hearts that is, to me anyway, like a small piece of the puzzle. The piece I hold is to be used to connect with other pieces and none is more important than the other. When I let go of my “self righteousness” and use my small piece to form with other small pieces the puzzle of life is established. We need each other now more than ever before in our time. Our world is at odds and wars have cropped up in just about every region. Our political parties have set up their camps and neither is willing to concede or seek to work with each other in a positive way. Please help us Father we so desperately need you. I pray for the EMTs, Police, Medical staff, Military, and those in leadership positions. May I be an instrument of your peace today.

Morning Encouragement for 7/15/2022

Good Morning,

This morning I woke with a thought “what would my life be like if I remained unmarried. With this thought in mind, I turned my thoughts to prayer for my family, the lives I and my family have touched, the tender moments, the joyful events, and thought “Lord if I hadn’t married so many people would not be touched in the way they were. If I hadn’t married our sons would not be born. If our sons were not born. Our eldest spent time with suicidal teens and reached out in love which turned them from thoughts of death to thoughts of life. Our middle son would not have married a wonderful woman who would give birth to our grand son. Our youngest, who was handicapped, was our “morning sun” and he would shine for the whole world to see and feel. Understand this, each of us impacts other people’s lives and while we may feel like we are not wanted, we are always wanted by our Father.

Each of us, at one time or another, has said, “If only”. In fact, you hear this statement all too often in the Bars across the land. The thing is, it is not always the choices that we make but the person we commit them to. As I have said before, when commit to a course of action, there is no going back to undo it, When we make sinful choices and confess them, He doesn’t remove the consequences, He uses them for His glory and makes something beautiful out of a sow’s ear. When we give our lives to Him, He turns our broken existence into something beautiful. Count your blessings my friends in Christ Jesus!

Readings: Jeremiah 1:4-10, Psalms 69:5-12, Matthew 28:16-20, Proverbs 13

Famous Quote: Ask yourself: if I can’t avoid it, change it, makes t go away, or change my response to it? What if I decided to stop letting it bother me? Al Siebert

Father,

Thank you for all that you do. I know that I make mistakes in judgment on a daily basis and while this troubles me, I know that in your hands it becomes a work of art. Our lives are made of choices all of which tell our story. Help me to look at my mistakes in the light of your forgiveness. I know that I am powerless to change my past but may the lessons I have learned bring me closer to you. Please watch over my family today and keep them safe wherever they may go. I pray for my nation today Lord that you will forgive their foolishness and bring about revival across the land. I pray for EMTs,Police, medical staff, and military. In your capable hands I commit this day and my life

Morning Encouragement for 7/13/2022

Good Morning,

In scripture it talks about the danger of causing trouble in your home. Of course, we like to think, “nobody saw me do it so it will not be uncovered” and that “it’s nobody’s business what I do”. The problem is, there is always someone who is watching us. The person or individual that is watching us is our common enemy the Devil and his minions. These same individuals will feed misinformation to our children and their children on down to the 4th and 5th generation or longer. Consider David and Bathsheba how one act of indiscretion played out in David’s lineage until about the time of the exile in 586. When we bring pornography, illicit affairs, theft, alcohol/drug/food abuse, and various other things into home, that spirit does not give up ground no matter how many times we cry over our tragic ways unless something drastic occurs in the following generations. For this reason we owe it to ourselves, our families, and church to keep a careful watch over our lives and our ministries.

Readings: Proverbs 11:28, Psalms 141, Job 31, Matthew 5:13-16, 27-30.

Famous Quote: “Many Christians carry along lanterns and say, ‘I wouldn’t give up my religion for yours.’ They talk about religion. The religion that has no fire is like painted fire. They are artificial Christians. Do you belong to that class? You can tell. If you can’t, your friends can.” D.L. Moody

Father,

Sin is blot that blocks out life and stifles love because if it is brought to light, the entire room would smothered out. You desire holiness on our part not because you will put us on display but that the enemy loses power and control over us. Consequently, when the enemy loses power over us, he must work all that much harder to affect our children. Please help today to be a better parent and fight the good fight against the right enemy. I pray for my nation today Lord as we are going through immense struggles across this great land. Thank you for the rain you poured over my city last night and the cool air today. I pray for good crops this year and that you continue the healing process over this land.

Morning Encouragement for 7/12/2022

Good Morning,

As I am preparing to officiate at my son’s wedding later this year, my thoughts have turned to the subject of marriage and how I can best present it. So you, my readers, are now my sounding board.

Those of you who have developed software, built things like homes and cars, know how it is put together and what it will take to maintain it. If I wanted to know how to install a piece of software or what do when a glitch occurs, I’d go back to the company who designed it because that group would know or should know all about it; there are hacks out in our world who have found a way to hack software and they might know a thing or two but might not know its original design. In the same way, G-d ordained marriage between a man and a woman. If the intention of the this union is make it last until the day we are called home, we need to look at His design and ask Him to lead us in marriage and to submit ourselves to him and consequently to each other. if the intention is so that we can legally have the pleasure of being connected but wish to go our way, simply follow the world’s pattern. The world’s way is easy to start but difficult to navigate the maze and will always leave us broken and empty which is on purpose because its author wants us to fail. In fact, the author of the world’s way “Devil” sets us up to fail from the very beginning knowing full well that the plan will never work. The thing is, no matter where we are in life whether coming from a bad union or starting a new one, we have the choice about the life we will get. We have no authority over the world but we have full authority over our hearts.

Readings: Genesis 2:22-25, Exodus 4:9-12, John 17:13-19, Jeremiah 17:11-18, Psalm 130.

Famous Quote: You always have two choices: your commitment versus your fear.” – Sammy Davis Jr.

Father,

We need you so desperately in our world today. The world has had its hay day and lived by its autonomy only to find themselves at the bottom instead of the top. Our world is in disarray and the only way to fix it is to surrender to you. You are not a harsh task master nor are you a dictator, you are a loving G-d who cares deeply for us. There is no one who comes to you that you will not reject. You made our world so only you know how to fix it. I lift up my world before you Lord asking for your forgiveness and for your healing over our land. I pray for Ukraine, Russia, and the known world for your peace and that you will rebuild this world for your glory. I pray for the Police, EMTs, military, and Medical communities that you will watch over each of them and bring them home safely tonight.

Morning Encouragement for 7/10/2022

Good Morning,

Our world today is on a collision course that started back in the garden of Eden several millennia ago. The decision made by two people impacted an unlimited number of people throughout our history. The problems were compounded by the persuasion of one entity to draw 1/3 of Gods created beings into a revolt. On earth mankind is interlinked with the Devil as we have seen in all of the wars, revolts, fights, and bloodshed. The Lord attempted to wipe out the evil people by a flood but it did not have a lasting result. It was not until about 33AD that the collision course of sin was intercepted by the cross. Jesus’ life was for the glory of his Father in Heaven in name and in action. His death, however much pushed by the Sanhedrin, was not because he sinned but that he took on our sin so that we would not have to die physically or spiritually for them. Today many of you, just like me, have gone as far in the opposite direction of the cross only to find yourself back at the cross having come 365 degrees or full circle. I encourage you to make peace with yourself and your world today that his blood will cleanse you and make your whole again. As much as we are led to believe that our world is doomed, I will tell you that sin only holds power for a season and that there is no depths that we can go to that the Lord will not forgive if we ask him and come to our senses. I ask that everyone of you on every continent to pray for the peace of your nation and for the balm of Gilead to be applied to your nation

Readings: Psalm 122, Hebrews 12, Deuteronomy 1:37-40, John 14

Famous Quote: The world has no charms for me when I look up, but the trouble with God’s children is they do not look up enough.” – D.L. Moody

Father,

Our world is topsy-turvey today because of the choices we and those before us have made. We have fights in the streets, in our homes, schools, businesses because of “forced obedience”. I don’t know what it will take to fully heal this land but am pretty sure destroying the world will not solve the problem but will simply put it off fora little while. I pray the blood of Jesus over my nation and the world at large. you made this world so you know what it will take to restore it. Help me to be an instrument of your peace. I pray for the peace of the US today.

Morning Encouragement for 7/9/2022

Good Morning,

When I was in the 8th grade, I did very well in school with all of the credit going to my 7th grade teacher, Sr. Bernice. This nun enforced the need to develop good study habits. In the 8th grade I was on the B honor roll all year. In the ninth grade Algebra I found an easy way to pass the class because my teacher left the answers out for people to copy. In modern day circles the teacher would be blamed for encouraging cheating. I justified my actions by believing that “I knew the material just didn’t need to do the work”. What I was unaware of was that by caving into cheating, I was cheating myself and set the stage for my future.

In the same way, David was a man of integrity. From the moment of Samuel’s prophecy to the rise of his kingdom, he guarded his pathways and refused to do anything that would taint his rule. All was going well until “the spring of the year when kings go to war, he stayed home” (2 Samuel 11:1). We are not told why David stayed home, The decision to stay home set the stage for the troubles that would befall his family for the foreseeable future. You see, nobody is impenetrable to temptation not even the great David. The Devil is not to blame for tempting us, we are to blame for caving into temptation.

Readings: 2 Samuel 11, Ephesians 6, Matthew 26:36-46, Psalm 125, Proverbs 7.

Famous Quote: “I can resist everything except temptation” (Oscar Wilde)

Father,

Each of us has areas in our life where we are wooed by temptation. This does not mean that we “are worthless” but that we are human. The testing of our metal is never made when we are at the top of our game, it is always when we are bored or have put ourselves in a compromising position such as the young man in Proverbs 7. Please help me today to keep your commands and precepts before me to meditation on them, and walk in the truth. .I pray for my nation today for your forgiveness and healing over the land. Fathers we have taken your blessings and our freedom for granted and have offended the throne. Please forgiveness and heal our land. We have walked in abject sin under the guise of our liberties please forgive us and heal our land. Thank you for rain and I pray for it abundantly to heal our parched land, refill our lakes and restore peace to our land. I pray for my people and for peace in our land.

Morning Encouragement for 7/7/2022

Good Morning, wow we’re already about 1/2 way through July. Summer is passing by quickly.

one single most important part of encouragement is that we encourage growth by developing truth in people’s lives. There is a difference between telling the truth as we know it and looking in a mirror to see the truth as it is. Of course, truth is not as popular as flattery because, when we hear and/or see the truth we must do something with it. The example, as James put it “we look in a mirror and then turn around forget what we saw”. Just as G-d uses a mirror so does the Devil except his is a “fun house mirror” or the type that amplifies or negative features to defeat us and a amplified positive to scratch our ego; both ends of the spectrum are self-defeating.

It is for these reasons that we need to stay in the word so that we will always remember that the world does not spin around us and that the secret to our success is not based on positional authority but on the grounds of obedience.

Readings: James 1:19-27, Proverbs 22:4-14, John 15:14-16, Psalms 1, Deuteronomy 17:14-20

Famous Quote: Choices will continually be necessary and — let us not forget — possible. Obedience to God is always possible. It is a deadly error to fall into the notion that when feelings are extremely strong we can do nothing but act on them.”
― Elisabeth Elliot, Discipline: The Glad Surrender

Father,

Being obedient to you is not a brainless option, it requires us to think through what is presented and compare it to the light of your word. Equally as servants of G-d, we are not mindless minions surrendering our free-will to a faceless god, as the world blithely puts it. By working with you and allowing you to work in us, our lives are built on the solid unloveable rock of Jesus Christ. We do not follow every whim of doctrine but remain loyal to your word so that we discover the lies that ever present in our world and about our lives. Please help me today to stay in your word that I will know the truth and be set free from the lies. I pray for my family today that you will watch over them and keep them wherever they may go. I pray for my city, state, and nation Lord that you would continue to rattle the cages of the politicians that they will be confronted with the truth and that they would have no room to run, I pray for our world Lord in the times of your favor.

Morning Encouragement for 7/5/2022

Good Morning,

Years ago, I attended a science presentation. The presenter divided the audience into two groups. One half were told to close their eyes and the presenter showed a picture that we were to commit to memory. Then, the first group closed their eyes and the 2nd opened theirs and he again showed the picture but from a different angle. The difference in the angle changed how the picture looked. In the same way, when we look at sin and forgiveness. Through sin’s eyes all we can see is “this is how I am and I always will be. I need ___ because it helps me.” Through forgiveness’ eyes, we see that __ is not our help it hinders us and therefore has to go.” Our flesh is not changed through forgiveness, we will still bear the wounds of our past but they remind us of how far we have come and the power of the cross over our life.

Readings: John 3:1-8, Galatians 2:20, Psalm 51

Famous Quote: “When I was young I thought it was hard that I had lost my father, but now I believe I would not be where I am if I had not been thrown on to myself early in life…” (D.L. Moody).

Father,

I wish it were possible to heal our wounds and make our lives as though we never sinned but then, as the Psalmist put it, “My people will forget”. When people review my life, I want it to be a journey from sin to the kingdom. Please help me today to live for you and see the work you are doing in my life. I pray for healing over my nation from shore to shore, from the north to the south, and from the east to the west. I pray for our EMTs, Police, Military, and Medical communities that you would watch over them and keep them. With the world up in arms, now is the time for the captives to be set free.

Morning Encouragement for 7/4/2022

Good Morning and again Happy Fourth of July

Doubtless many of you have heard the phrases or have said it your self “Freedom in Christ Jesus” and “freedom isn’t free”. We are reminded to thank our vets for defending our freedoms. The problem is, I believe we are thanking the wrong people not taking anything away from our vets and those currently serving in the military because they too have done the unthankful job of serving our country. The people we should really be thanking are those who fought for our independence over 200 years ago and about 50 years from 300 years ago. How do we thank those who gave their lives for freedom? By pilgrimaging to their burial sites? Say a loud “thanks”? Or, as I believe is necessary, to respect our freedoms by not taking them for granted?

In the same way, we have freedoms in Christ Jesus because of his work on the cross over 2000 years ago. Jesus could have quite easily have said “the price is too great. I’ll just disappear until I die”. The thing is, though, he saw you, me, all those who came before us, and all those who will come after us and knew that no matter how painful and disgusting the whole ordeal would be, he would willingly pay the price. He doesn’t want our adulations, pilgrimages to his birthplace, and/or “Jesus is #1” stickers on our cars. While those things are outward signs and nothing wrong with them, what is important is that we respect the freedoms we have in Jesus Christ. If we trip over this rock, believe me no one else that comes after us will ever know the price he paid for our life. Then, that freedom will be taken away as people follow others into the lion den of “government control”.

Readings: Hebrews 12, Galatians 5, Isaiah 42:1-6, Deuteronomy 30:19-20, Psalms 21, Proverbs 22:4-14

Famous Quote: He who wants what God wants of him will lead a free and happy life. ~ (Japanese Proverb).

Father,

The gifts that come from you are good gifts because it cost you everything. We cannot comprehend the full measure of the price Jesus paid because we were not there that fateful day. We did not hear the cries as the nails were pounded into his wrists nor his feet. We did not hear the cries each time the cat-a-ninetails landed on his back tearing away the skin leaving welts and blood spewing from the wounds. We did not witness the crown of thorns being planted on his head in mock tribute. Today people have come from all walks of life to hear the salvation story that will set them free from the bondage of sin. The blood Jesus shed 2000 years ago is as healing and restoring it was that fateful day. Please help me today and every day to savor this freedom and never take it for granted. Please be with our EMTs, Police, military, clergy wherever they go and grant each of them safe passage where they are going and when they return; please help them to make wise choices that they not be a negative example. Please watch over this nation and forgive our sins. Jesus we need you now more than ever. I pray for my city, state, nation, and world at large.

Morning Encouragement for 7/3/2022

Good Morning and Happy Fourth of July

Tomorrow is “Independence day” that celebrates the USA’s independence from England in 1775. The dictionary defines independence as: “The state or quality of being independent; freedom from dependence; exemption from reliance on, or control by others; self-subsistence or maintenance; direction of one’s own affairs without interference”. The problem is, when we take our salvation and independence for granted, we forget the struggle it took to get us where we are and we end up going back where we were. The same thing can be said of our salvation. When we come to the Lord, confess our sins and accept His forgiveness, our heart is opened to new possibilities that says, “I don’t want to live under the oppression of the world’s ways”. With this “new heart” and the motivation of the Spirit of G-d we make our journey from the fields of Moab to Kingdom of Zion or “New Jerusalem”. Let this day be day to give thanks for your “Independence”..

Readings: John 8:31-32, Joshua 18, Psalm 27,

Famous Quote: Freedom means you are unobstructed in living your life the way you chose, anything less is a form of slavery. Wayne Dyer.

Father,

Your greatest desire for our lives is that would be free from the binds of slavery. While we may not wear physical shackles, we do wear spiritual shackles that put limitations on our dreams, goals, and desires. In the public eye, we declare our “rights” but in private we languish in sin while we hold the keys to our cell door. This kind of living leaves broken hearts, squashed dreams, and doubt filled hearts. I pray for the lives that have sought salvation thru the world’s ways not knowing the power that is theirs’ through the power of prayer. Please watch over our nation and heal it by the power of the Holy Spirit of G-d.. I pray for the military, EMTs, and service industries. May this day be a new day for those who come to you.
